These pickups are based on the PAF's in the '59 Les Paul made famous by Peter Green and continued by Gary Moore.

The unique middle position tone that is sought after by many is the result of an accidentally out of phase neck pickup.

Important details are the neck pickup coils are reverse wound which means they're wound the opposite direction of the bridge pickup coils. This is what causes the pickups to be out of phase in the middle position and produce that nasal-like sound. So please note the pickups are permanently out of phase so flipping the magnet will not put them back in phase.

Another notable feature is the neck pickup uses heavy Formvar magnet wire. The bridge pickup coils are plain enamel, leads are braided vintage style and the pickups are potted in 100% paraffin wax to prevent micro phonics.
