Texas blues style pickups for Stratocaster

Tone is subjective but when you hear it there is no mistaking the tone that changed blues music forever. All around the world guitarists experiment seeking that tone. Make no mistake a set of pickups will not magically give you the hard earned technique of an accomplished guitarist like Stevie Ray but getting the instrument's tone close is a big part of achieving "the" sound.

There's always the guy who says "hand Stevie a $99 Squire and he'd sound exactly the same, it's all in his hands." The guys who preach this are confusing technique and playing style with tone. Instruments have tone, players have technique. The $99 Squire doesn't sound like a '54 Strat or a '59 Les Paul now does it? That is because each instrument has its own tone regardless of who plays them.

Many months of testing went into developing the Texas Magic pickup set. It was evident when the right combination was reached. The marriage of alnico grade, wire type and size combined with unconventional type of layering during the winding process produced the tone we were seeking and most important it was repeatable.

Heavy Formvar magnet wire random wound under high tension, our custom manufactured alnico 5 magnets along with black vulcanized fiberboard, cloth push back leads, vacuum potting and high content silver solder comprises this very special sounding pickup design. Mid 6k neck and middle with a special 8k bridge wound with 43awg heavy Formvar wire provides a focused midrange for a truly useable bridge pickup.
